The role

The Royal Society of Biology is recruiting an interim Senior Digital Communications and Marketing Officer.  Based in the Communications and Public Affairs team, you will deliver the RSB’s social media across the whole organisation, manage website content and develop a range of marketing activities. You’ll be joining the organisation at an exciting time with the imminent launch of a new website, a rebranding project, and the launch of a new organisational strategy. If you are ready to hit the ground running – this is the perfect role for you.

You will coordinate the website content and the home page and banner content, design, build amend and archive webpages and e-forms to meet the needs of the RSB and ensure search engine optimisation.  You will draft, edit and sub-edit engaging and easy to understand content and you will create and maintain a sitemap, developing an approval process, deciding which analytics to track, and approving design concepts.

You’ll be the go-to for all things social media, developing and implementing a strategy across various platforms including segmenting audiences by creating user profiles, developing tailored messaging across social channels to ensure RSB members and potential new members are engaged with effectively.

You will develop and implement brilliant marketing activities and communications including planning the production of high-quality materials which engage and inform members, potential members and member organisations.

You will promote the interests of RSB internationally by developing communication channels across key digital touchpoints and you will ensure live-blogging or live coverage sessions are delivered as needed.  You’ll also work with colleagues to help the delivery of digital and online events and activities.

Requirements

  • You will have demonstrable experience of digital and marketing communication across a range of platforms
  • You will have experience of website management and development
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Strong stakeholder and professional relationships management experience
  • Enthusiasm for the communication of the biological sciences
  • Available to start work with a maximum of 2 weeks’ notice
