Salary: Circa £38,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
We are delighted to be partnering with Art Fund to recruit this Policy Manager vacancy.
Art Fund is the national fundraising charity for art. We are an independent charity committed to a vibrant museums sector. We believe art can make you see, think and feel differently.
We invest around £8milllion every year to help museums and galleries acquire works of art for their collections, share them with wide audiences, and support the training and development of museum professionals. We are supported by our growing membership of 159,000 through the National Art Pass, as well as the generosity of many trusts, foundations and other individuals. Through our work we make art more accessible to as many museum visitors as possible, wherever they are.
Pre-lockdown, millions of people visit UK museums every year; they made up seven out of 10 of this country’s most visited free attractions, and were seen by the public as trusted civic spaces for inspiration, education, reflection, and dialogue. But now, following years of funding cuts, the Covid-19 crisis means that the challenge to the sector cannot be overstated. It is more important than ever that Art Fund, alongside its partners across the museum and cultural sectors, plays its part in supporting and advocating for museums and art galleries, making the case to government, our members and the general public for the vital role they play in our cultural, social and civic communities.
Purpose of the role:
To help us in this work, Art Fund is seeking a Policy Manager. The role is responsible for managing and delivering Art Fund’s policy agenda; working with and advising the Director, Director of Programme and Policy, Director of Communications and other senior staff to shape the organisation’s internal and external engagement with key issues affecting the UK’s museums and galleries, arts and heritage, and not-for-profit sectors, and; taking an active role in developing relationships with key political figures and other relevant external stakeholders.
A member of the Programme team, reporting to the Director of Programme and Policy, you’ll work with colleagues across Art Fund and the wider sector to ensure our policy and advocacy work is as effective and valuable to the sector as our grant-making. You’ll share the energy and commitment that Art Fund staff bring to their work, as well as a belief the importance of arts and culture.
We care about equal opportunities and welcome applications from a broad diversity of talent from all sections of the community.
