Press & Communications Officer

Salary: £34,200 + 5% contributory Pension and Modern Offices

Position:  Permanent, Flexi Time Hours (8-3:30 / 9-4:30 etc)

The position: 

Our client are a leading Child Welfare Non Profit organisation and membership body seeking an intuitive, motivated and passionate Press & Communications Officer to join a busy Media, Press and Communications team.  The role will be supporting the Communications Team working alongside and reporting to the Director of Communications as well as other various teams within the organisation. You’ll be confident in your writing abilities and verbal communication skills, building relationships with journalists, the Media, members as well as stakeholders at all levels. You will be comfortable in a fast paced environment having an ear to the ground not missing a great story whilst being truly passionate about the work you do. Requirements:

  • Strong Press, PR or journalistic background with a strong news sense being able to spot and write stories exceptionally well
  • Confident in building relationships with the Media, pitching stories and taking calls from journalists and creating media opportunities
  • Confidentially writing about complex issues across print and digital engaging with members and stakeholders
  • Working in both a reactive and proactive way as well as writing press releases
